Windows 7 reached to the end of official support on 14 January 2020, and Microsoft stated that they will no longer release any new update for Windows 7 unless an extended security subscription plan is purchased. Microsoft Rolls Out its Chromium Based Edge browser for Windows 7 and 8.1 Users
Microsoft support’s notice strictly mentioned that this update is not for the Enterprise device, it is specifically for the Windows 7, 8.1 or later versions that are either Home, Professional, Ultimate, Starter, or Core editions. Microsoft explains that the new chromium-based edge browser will automatically be pinned to the taskbar and a shortcut will be added to the desktop too. The new Edge will not become a default browser automatically, and if you are using an edge browser previously, so it will automatically replace it, although this will not happen with Internet explorer. As Microsoft stated that “Microsoft has released a new Chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge. This new version provides the best in class compatibility with extensions and websites. You must have the SHA-2 update (KB4474419) that is dated September 23, 2019, or a later SHA-2 update installed and then restart your device before you apply this update. If you use Windows Update, the latest SHA-2 update will be offered to you automatically.You must have the servicing stack update (SSU) (KB4490628) that is dated March 12, 2019, or a later SSU update installed.
